Opportunities for outdoor sports in Dordrecht
Commissioned by the municipality of Dordrecht, TRACK went in search of opportunities for outdoor sports in Dordrecht. The direct reason is the plans for the Dordtwijkzone, where parks, sports complexes and residential areas are interwoven as one city park and where there is a lot of space for (individual) outdoor sports and exercise. The research is a refinement of this, but we have also set out opportunities for outdoor sports elsewhere in the city.
472 runners, walkers and cyclists mapped out their views on improvement opportunities in and around Amstelveen in an online map survey. These insights were reflected with insights into the sporting use of public space, by collecting movement data from the activity tracking app STRAVA.
Based on the insights from the data and map survey, TRACK 6 has developed opportunities for outdoor sports. In doing so, not only was it considered where there is currently a lot of exercise, but also where this is desirable. Furthermore, proposals were made for creating sporty Ringparks in existing green structures, adding semi-paved running routes in the landscape, creating roller-skating routes, and designing 'sports dikes', and solving 'missing links' to green areas.
